Bangs sits in the West Plaza neighborhood of Kansas City just off the prestigious Country Club Plaza. The location is the perfect reflection of who we are and what we offer - sophisticated hair-cuts, on-trend color and styles in a hip and attentive, yet easy-going environment.
Our priorities have stayed the same for 25 years:
A level of excellence.
Our stylists are highly-trained. We are driven by technical education which keeps us on-trend for our guests and passionate about our craft.
Our goal every day is to provide an excellent experience for our guests, building trust and a comfort level so they will return time and again.
We want every guest – whether they’ve been coming 25 years or for the first time yesterday – to feel heard by our stylists, feel appreciated for their business and feel their very best when they walk out the door.
Bangs stylists are proud to be regarded as Beauty Industry Experts and Trainers in cutting and coloring. Our long-standing partnership with Oribe and Bumble and Bumble products provides tools and training that keep our stylists on the cutting-edge of the industry.
I love what I do – helping people feel their best with great hair. It has always been important to me to stay progressive and on-trend with our craft. Hair styles have changed over the years and so has the industry. I constantly seek out new techniques and superior products through education and travel so our clients will have access to the very latest hair styles and color trends. That along with our friendly, customer-centric environment I believe has contributed significantly to our success. I am thankful for the clients who have been with us these last 25 years at Bangs and always enjoy meeting new ones who walk through our doors.
My foundation was built on barbering taught by a Master Barber - a.k.a. my dad. From that early hands-on training I was fortunate to work and learn from Tony & Guy and through many classes from the Bumble and Bumble University. My inspiration comes from the very talented professionals I have worked with throughout my 30-year career. I believe in being present in every aspect of life and seeing the value in everyone I meet throughout this journey. That’s what makes connecting with my clients every day such a pleasure.
My career didn’t start behind the chair, it started behind the counter – managing a salon. By watching the stylists, and with a little nudge from a client, I was inspired and became licensed and trained. My education includes classes from Deva Curl, L’Oreal, Redken, Bumble and Bumble as well as Oribe learning techniques in curly hair cutting, razor skills, balayage color, babylights and everything in between.
I am Bangs born and raised! I started my career as an assistant under founder and owner Patty Walters in 2006. Bangs gave me the opportunity to travel and train with the Bumble and Bumble University and Front Row in Miami for Luxury Brand Partners - experience I pull from every day to make me a better stylist. I love doing haircuts and up-styling, balayage, and fashion colors. I’m grateful for my supportive clientele and for the amazing people I work with every day.
Building long lasting relationships with my clients while providing them with a fresh look is what I do best. My training with Sassoon Cutting and Coloring Techniques provides strong fundamentals while I provide the personal twist. By staying connected with other passionate stylists I continue to be inspired, stay up on trends and grow in my skills. Above all I want to give every client a customized look that reflects their personality and style, and makes them feel great!
With a recent degree from the Paul Mitchell School in Columbia, Missouri I couldn’t be more excited to join Bangs! I have had a passion for styling and coloring hair since I was child. I now have the opportunity to expand on my newfound knowledge and skills with daily practice surrounded by a great team of stylists.
I have been working the customer service/business side of the industry since 2000. You could say I am a closet hairstylist (I’ve been known to dress a few locks in my spare time). My passion truly lies in the products. I couldn’t imagine a world without Oribe and Bumble in it. We know what works for clients and stylists alike. I love helping with product selection. Throughout my many years at Bangs, I’ve been able to really get to know our clientele. I enjoy building strong relations and providing efficient service to everyone who comes through our door.
The Brand Story
Oribe Hair Care was founded by renowned editorial and celebrity hairstylist Oribe and beauty industry veterans Daniel Kaner and Tev Finger with the goal of creating a new kind of hair company, one that was designed with the most talented salon professionals and the most discriminating customers in mind. When developing the line, we didn’t want to compromise on any detail. We leveraged skin care technology and natural actives to deliver high-performance, treatment-based products—all while never forgetting that healthy hair is the underpinning for sexy, glamorous styling. Each product has been tested at length on set, backstage and in the salon to ensure that it delivers results, leaving us with a best-in-class collection that truly meets the needs of the hair-obsessed.
Oribe’s signature scent, Cote d’Azur, runs through the line at the lightest levels, designed so that the products in each individual’s hair ritual work together…and build upon each other. Developed in collaboration with one of the oldest French fragrance houses, tracing its roots back to the 1800s, Cote d’Azur was conceived to be beautiful and bright yet calming and composed—the perfect morning wake-up call, afternoon pick-me-up and evening mood-setter. The signature scent awakens with hints of citrus-soaked Italian bergamot, pink lemons, white peach, cassis and muguet, balanced with Aomori apples and leafy greens. Cedarwood, white amber and musk lend their soft woody notes, while Cuba’s national flower, la mariposa blanca, creates a sensual and invigorating experience throughout the day.
They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover…in our case, feel free. For us, packaging is an immediate sign of what the consumer can expect from our brand: something elevated, sophisticated and fun. Oribe Hair Care’s award-winning packaging was designed to make the experience of using the products as beautiful as the formulas themselves. Every detail was carefully crafted and nuanced, from the shape of each bottle to the eco-friendly boxes sourced from well-managed forests and printed with vegetable inks. The architectural facets and striking jewel tones perfectly blend old-world heritage with modern elegance. Our packaging has established a new standard for hair care. Oribe products are truly a modern-day bathroom accessory.
These are the products of the hair-obsessed.
Our products are about choice and attitude. Select products and wear them as your mood shifts from day to day, outfit to outfit, event to event, or season to season.
Rather than feeling that you have to pile wax on top of creme on top of spray, as editorial stylists do out of necessity, get to know each product individually first. Though you’ll naturally gravitate to several favorites, be adventurous.
Some people go for gritty, matte textures and choose Surf Spray or Sumotech. Others prefer more polished finishes and reach for Brilliantine, Sumowax or Gloss. Minimalists and naturalists swear by Leave In Conditioner, Prep or Tonic, or a hint of Grooming Creme. Leading ladies make it big with Thickening Spray, Does It All or Classic Hairspray. The naturally curly spring for Curl Conscious products.
Whatever you do, seek stylists’ advice (if you haven’t already). Besides recommending the right shampoo and conditioner, they cut hair with products in mind, use them while cutting, and can teach you when and how to use them. A versatile cut can be worn several ways and products are key to changing it.
Regardless of your preference, we’re sure you’ll find something to love and, like hairdressers worldwide, come to depend on. Welcome to the Bb. family.
